F.A.Q

How long have you been playing?2021-11-10T00:57:02+00:00

Tom has been playing in various acts for 15 years, and before that working as an audio tech in the music industry for events and festivals. Tom and Tayla played together for 10 years, then Tayla’s main fill in Georgia took over from Tayla when she decided to retire from gigs. Tom and Georgia have been playing together for 4 years, Georgia also has a history of singing in musicals in Geelong and Melbourne which she has done since high school. Tayla is going to still keep one foot in and fill in for Georgia if she is ever unwell.

How many songs do you know?2018-07-24T07:59:17+00:00

About 200, the last time we counted, please contact us for an up-to-date playlist.

What if a song I want isn’t on the list?2018-07-24T07:59:12+00:00

All wedding bookings come with one complimentary custom song request, additional songs can be learnt above that for a small fee which covers charting and rehearsal time.

What demographic can you play to?2018-07-24T07:59:06+00:00

We know songs from the 50s through to current, we have played at birthday parties of all ages up to 80ths, and weddings from young to old.

Can I have a mixture of the different line ups?2018-07-24T07:59:00+00:00

Yes, absolutely, a lot of clients will book the Duo for ceremony, canapes and dinner, then get the 3-4 piece happening for the party end of the evening.

Will you sound like you do in your video demos on the night?2018-07-24T07:58:54+00:00

All our demos are live, some are even recorded at gigs (excuse the poorer quality of these!) so what you see is what you get. Many bands have demos out there that are mimed and/or tricked up with autotune and other studio hacks, we like to keep it true, acoustic and natural as possible.

Where can I see you play?2021-11-10T01:00:04+00:00

We try to do at least one public performances per month, even in busy wedding season, get in contact for our upcoming public dates.

What about music when the band takes a break?2021-11-10T01:00:45+00:00

We provide DJ services between our sets later in the night to keep the dancing going, you are welcome to have input as to what songs you’d like included or leave it to us.

Can a Duo get people up dancing?2021-11-10T01:02:33+00:00

We have a stomp box that keeps the beat for the Duo dance sets (like a bass drum sound) however nothing beats the energy of having a drummer or additional musos if there is space in the venue for the 3, 4 or 5 piece, or room in the budget.

Our venue is small and has noise restrictions…. Help!2018-07-24T07:58:31+00:00

T&T only need about 2 x 1m of space to perform and can keep levels at or below 75dB (around loud talking level) as required, however as people begin to dance the music may need to be turned up. We can work with the venue on volume levels as required. We wouldn’t recommend a drummer for venues with noise restrictions.

Do you guys have day jobs?2021-11-10T01:03:55+00:00

Yes, Tom is a teacher of Music Industry and still does audio engineering work from time to time, Georgia is a primary teacher. The musicians we work with often are music teachers, music directors or ensemble members for local productions, we have drummers we work with that are carpenters, guitarists that are accountants.

What sort of equipment do you use?2021-11-10T01:05:28+00:00

We have a range of different equipment from RCF, JBL, Soundcraft, Midas and Shure. We will choose the system that is the correct size for the venue, noise restrictions (in any) and the qty of patrons. Please contact us for specifics if you need clarification.

How much $$?2021-11-10T01:06:19+00:00

Solo starts from $450, duo starts from $850, we are GST registered and that figure includes GST, get in contact for a quote.

Do I have to feed you?2018-07-24T07:58:14+00:00

If the duration of the performance is over 3 hours a main meal is required for each band member, this ensures we can remain on site and provide music, rather than having to leave in search of food. Most venues will have contractor or performers meals available for $25-35 per head.

What’s your favourite song to play? and why?2021-11-10T01:08:07+00:00

Tom: Everybody wants to rule the world – Tears for Fears, because its 80s AF and it’s got an awesome shuffle.

My event has no access to power can you run off a generator?2021-11-10T01:12:39+00:00

Yes, 4kVA is our minimum power requirement, silenced generators are preferred which are available from most hire shops. We can BYO if you are unsure. For ceremonies we have a battery powered sound system.

I’ve heard some bands get drunk at the gig… what about you guys?2018-07-24T07:57:01+00:00

We are partial to a glass or two of Pinot (for vocal health!) now and then, but nothing out of control.

What happens if our event is running over time, and the speeches go forever?2018-07-24T07:56:53+00:00

A wedding wouldn’t be a wedding if it was exactly on time. We can be flexible, condense 3 x 45min sets into 2 x hour sets with one break for example, we want to make sure you get the best value out of us.

Can you play our bridal waltz?2018-07-24T07:56:47+00:00

Yes we can, however some couples may have exact choreography organised that matches the original, in that case its often better to have the original played off an iPod.

Can we get up and sing with you for a special song?2021-11-10T01:14:38+00:00

If the bride or groom want to get up and do a special number, or a family member or friend, we are happy to accommodate and accompany them as required. Rehearsals prior to the event can be organised or voice memos sent, or over zoom.

Can we meet prior?2021-11-10T01:15:08+00:00

Absolutely, we can do this at one of our public performances or arrange a time, we can also chat on the phone/zoom or over email also.

I’ve heard that musos are a bit loose… will you actually show up if we book you?2021-11-10T01:15:50+00:00

We have been doing this for a very long time and have never had a no show or double booking. Most of our gig bookings come from word of mouth, professionalism is paramount to us. If one of us is sick last minute, they will be replaced with equivalent standard professional musician. For the legal side of things, we have booking contracts which cover additional detail and fancy wording, for most bookings a $300 deposit is required to secure the date.

How far in advance do we need to book?2018-05-01T07:00:00+00:00

We have fielded last minute enquiries through to 3 years in advance, it’s always good to be organised, but do get in contact with us as soon as you’ve decided to go with us and we will block out the date.

We can via Stripe.

Can we use your microphone for speeches?2018-07-24T07:56:08+00:00

Yes, we can bring a wireless mic for your speeches, that way you can do this from anywhere in the venue.

We have our own sound company supplying production, is this OK?2021-11-10T01:17:51+00:00

No problem at all, the details they’ll need are: Two vocal mics (Shure Beta 58 or similar), and 2 x DIs for acoustic guitar and stomp box for the duo.
